ATHLETES

For many of us, sport is an integrated part of our lives from which we derive many benefits: from stronger overall health to the chance to claim bragging rights over our friends. Undoubtedly, though, sport takes its toll on our bodies.

Sportspersons, whether amateur weekend warriors or professional athletes, male or female, young or old, are turning in increasing numbers to chiropractic care to manage their body systems in their pursuit of peak performance and injury prevention.

Most sports involve putting your body through increased stress, whether from body-to-body contact, unnatural body positions which load joints and muscles with extra tension, or the torsions involved in reacting quickly to unpredictable shifts in gameplay. The back and the central nervous system are often the parts of the body which fare worst from the application of these stresses and strains.

Chiropractic is the natural care method that can undo the accumulated harm of competitive sport and help your body regain a balance that will not only relieve symptoms, but will actively aid in the prevention of future injury and boost the body's innate recuperative powers.

Many world class and Olympic athletes, as well as professional stars and teams, have retained chiropractors to provide care, among them Joe Montana, Nolan Ryan, Muhammad Ali, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Carl Lewis.

Chiropractors have been selected as official attending practitioners at the Olympic Games and at national and world championships in track and field, cycling, volleyball, powerlifting, aerobics and triathlons.

Here is what some elite athletes have to say about chiropractic care:

"His year under chiropractic care there was a 43% reduction on the days lost in training due to injuries and a 70% decrease in the administration of medicine. All this and Milan also won the league championship!"
Jean-Pierre Meersseman, Chiropractor and Medical Coordinator, AC Milan

"Bodybuilders and fitness people have been using, very extensively, chiropractors in order to stay healthy and fit. I found out the best way of going is to use chiropractors, not only after injuries, but also before injury."
Arnold Schwarzenegger, multiple Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia Champion

"I have to have an adjustment before I go into the ring. I do believe in chiropractic. I found that going to a chiropractor three times a week helps my performance. The majority of boxers go to get that edge."
Evander Holyfield, former Undisputed World Champion boxer (Cruiserweight and Heavyweight divisions)
